The Okie-Vegas Six…
No I’m not talking about the six of us who stayed up talking to four in the morning and waking up at 8. I’m talking about the discipline I need to have in the future.
You see the Okie-Vegas Six refers to the six pounds I gained in Okie.
Yup, I was doing so well and then boom, lake fun, boom, pizza, boom, Hmmmmm barbecue, boom, I know I am eating WAYYY to much.
But you need these issues. You need to spoil yourself, I kept telling myself.
Discipline is what is important. Oh so important. But then I thought of the great time that I had in Okie and the pain I feel that I know that it looks like Brian (Skidoo) tore or hurt his ACL. I still wouldn’t change it at all.
I’ve already lost two of the pounds back (probably all water weight). I’m walking and exercising again. I’m still only sleeping 4-5 hours but there is one thing that makes me smile.
You see , I have a meeting today and I had to put on my monkey shirt. The full button down blue shirt, the “suit” shirt. And it just hangs off of me. I feel like I am wearing a circus tent.
And it feels good.
But I still have four pounds of the Okie-Vegas Six to get rid of. And fifteen more to go after that. Then I’ll be at my goal. Then the party will truly begin.

You child care survey forces me to point out an interesting tidbit. A co-worker and I were comparing daycare costs, when we did a little math. It costs me 145/wk for my son. He is there approx. 9 hrs. per day. That comes to 45 hrs per week or $3.22 per hour. They feed him. They educate him, and they entertain him. It really is a bargin.
