Nights…

I’ve been doing a lot of reading lately and I’m enjoying Robert Ludlum’s The Bourne Sanction by Eric Van Lustbader.  When I haven’t been improving the house, I’ve been improving my mind.

Now tonight I played some poker for the first time in a month, after promising Joanna that I could go without for a month, and seeing that the poor woman has more projects papers etc to do that it would be easier for her (less distraction).

Nothing really big, finished 2nd in 3 tourneys and 3rd in a 4th in one of the new Matrix tourneys.  Don’t like em.  No sir, I just don’t like em at all.

Moving on, I love the calls I get from people asking me if I was going up to Oklahoma, “You have to watch the game and keep the streak going,” one friend said to me.  And yes, I’ve heard every game this year or watched every game this year.  This Texas Tech football team is good ladies and gentlemen.  I have a feeling I’ll be seeing a couple of them this year at my home away from home Thanksgiving dinner with Kristi and Dennis Simmons.  I’ll let you know if I will go later.  Everything all depends if we win against Oklahoma.  Kristi works with me and Dennis is Wide Receivers coach for Tech.  I’m proud of the way that they both have handled the success so far this year, very grounded, very one game at a time.  Something I haven’t seen ever in a Tech coached team. No big OOPSY game that we should win and that we don’t.  Games that in the past would seem impossible to win are dominant wins.  The team looks sharp.

And yet, I’m scared.

Yup, scared I tell you.  HOWEVER, if we can take the football in Oklahoma, march down and score early, try to take the crowd out of the game, we can win.

I think that even with a hostile crowd we can win.

But that’s why I have 17 points against Dave and 7 points against Gcox… Insurance my friends, it’s all about insurance.

I’m thinking of taking this weekend (around remotes and other shenanigans) and write.  Just go somewhere and just get going on things that I have wanted to write about:

1. Short story about a woman who is found on the side of the road looking at the stars

2. Major fiction piece about a dream I had the other day (scared the crap out of Joanna and me)

3. Just opening a word doc and just letting go.

I’m officially starting the countdown. Less than 31 days till I see the kids!!!!!  I can’t wait!
