Making a difference…

The greatest thing a man can do is ask for help. Men rarely ask, and tonight I had a friend ask. Some people would consider it a sign of weakness. I consider it a sign of strength. People who have the fortitude and heart to ask for help sometimes know what they need to do, but they need someone to push them to help them forward.

But my goal is to help…

because if I help others, in turn I will be helped myself.

Ready to make a difference?

I’ve going to start on my work for the CMN Radiothon in the morning, one of the best charity fundraisers that I have EVER been a part of.

And part of me is scared. Scared that we won’t raise enough money for this great hospital.

But when it is all said and done, if I do my best, I can truly be proud of my work.

Sometimes you take time to …

Life is moving on

take care of the puppies.

I have stories to tell and I will work on them. The book has been keeping me busy. Thanks to my bitchslapper, I mean editors who have been making me rewrite again and again.

The 30 day challenge…

So the last month since I’ve gotten married, I’ve gotten comfortable.

And that means once thing and one thing only.

I’ve gained weight.

So I’m back on the diet and back on the Wii with the EA Sports Active workouts.

So my goal was to try to lose the weight I gained in January in February.

Especially the “OOOh” sound as I get on the Wii balance board.

That kinda gets obnoxious.

At work…

At the General Managers conference in Mexico, I was mentioned and brought up as a key member of the Lubbock team.  So as we come closer to the big fundraiser at the end of the month, corporate has nothing but good things to say about me.

That’s good in my mind.

Hiding…

I’ve spent less time online, more time playing with the dogs and reading than I have been doing writing and the break has done me good. I’ve have a lot of ideas that I’ll be sharing with you dear readers in the next couple of days.

Retribution!

So I have to tell this story before I tell it on the air tomorrow.  I was driving down the street to work one morning while it was pouring , when a woman, crossing in the middle of the street (NO CROSSWALK for a block either way) tried to cross in front of me after dodging 5 lanes of traffic.  I gave her a courtesy horn (the New York way of saying, move your ass lady) and she replied by ducking in between lanes and giving me the finger.

Now I’m ashamed of what I did next.  I circled the block trying to cool myself down and then came back to see what she was in such a hurry for.

She was standing on the sidewalk holding a sign panhandling.

So I did what every mean awful person would do.

The year 2010…

I look forward to 2010 with young and eager eyes.

With the exception of getting married in 2009, there were very few bright spots in the year.

Lets see,

Harassment – by associates of Texas Tech

Annoyance – by ex-wife

Tolerance – of everyone during wedding preparations

Elation – of finally getting married

Denial – of benefits and health care mess due to surgery in January.

Yes, 2009 sucked from my cancer scare to issues at work causing me to have to take a paycut.

But I’m looking at 2010 differently.

2010,  is different because of my attitude.

I’m making changes in how I do and get things done.

I’ve taken a vacation (for my honeymoon) this January. I’ve never taken a vacation in January, I always tense up before Radiothon in February and don’t give myself a chance to relax.

The difference is simple. Joanna.  She sees me try to run myself into the ground and unlike former girlfriends or wife, she stops me , gets me to rest , eat, and laugh.

That change is very significant.

I am also not stressing at things that used to drive me crazy.  Obstacles that frustrated me are just looks like small stepping stones that I have to overcome.

I’m slowly losing weight and the safe and efficient way : eating less and exercising more.

The end result :

Lower blood pressure – without medication

A better environment for me

A better life I’m leading.

What else have I changed?

I’m reading more and writing more.  Some of the end results will be shown on this website.  Some will be given to others for publishing.  Some will never see the light of day.

I’ve done voice work for the Gambling Tales Podcast

I’m doing some preliminary writing work for others that I can’t talk about yet.

and I’m making room for more yesses.

Why?

Because I like feeling like that at the end of a day that I’ve accomplished something.

So how can you help?

Real easy, since I’ve opened myself to offers and opportunities. I’m not turning down an opportunity to grow, learn or share.  If you have a project you want my help on , let me know.

I’m backing friends with the LAPC and other poker related events. That’s the best play I know. Helping others get to their goals. Because whether they know it or not, but helping them, I’m helping me too.

If you need my advice, someone to bounce an idea off of, let me know.

Because 2010 is the year of opportunities for me. And I’m looking for the right one and the one that will be successful for all of us.

Thanks for reading.

I passed…

Search:
1754799 – SSN Address Locator
Result: Clear
Search:
1754800 – National Criminal File Search
Result: Clear

So my criminal background check was a success, like I had something in my past.

Now what to do with this clean background check…

Hmmmmmm :-)
