The weekend that will never be mentioned again.
I put my life out on here. I let my feelings known to one and all, sometimes to my on personal detriment. I, however, can not put my feelings on this weekend out for the public, now or maybe forever.
There is a wound, on my soul, that may never heal.
I’m Sorry.

Mary Ann’s Illegitimate love child?
Now focus men and stop looking at Tina Louise. Look at the cheek structure. Look at the doe eyes, the nose. Yup Sarah Palin is Mary Ann’s love child.
SHHH Don’t tell anybody.

For the love of the Big Guy, STOP READING THE HEADLINES!:
I stand by my thoughts that the team needs to stop getting distracted byu where they are in the polls, what awards that they are up for, for remember last time when we were up to UT by 21-0 in the first quarter, WE CHOKED and LOST THE GAME!
It’s about playing consistant for four quarters. This is a lesson that they still haven’t learned yet. And if they don’t we won’t go to a BCS game, we will be going to the Alamo Bowl and liking it.
Eric Morris and Detron Lewis proved that they are the diamonds in the rough but the kicking team stunk it up. The real question in my eyes will be, after this second game against Nevada, if the kicking isn’t there, will we go for two the rest of the season?
Think about it, our results are better with two point conversions than our XP’s. Imagine having the defense out there for not one meaningless kick, but yet another play to tire out the D-Line and get those linebackers one more chance to let us find a hole. Our offense is deadly. If we stop reading the headlines. Nevada has a very salty team and we better be on our toes, because we tend to suck it up on the road.
Prove me wrong Tech, just do it .
Weekend Update:
Sunday, I went to church for the first time since Patrick died. It was, very different. No “Open your hymals to Hymn number 234″ I had Kareoke Hymns. Now maybe it was just me and I’m a different breed of prayer, but Hymn with graphics behind us just isn’t my cup of tea. I enjoyed the sermon on serving others and serving yourself and it wasn’t as retching as I thought it would be. But please ladies, as a notice, 5 inch Hooker Heels are not to be worn into church. Maybe I am too restrictive in my thoughts of church clothing. If I can see your underwear, you shouldn’t be wearing it in church. But I am more of a “my personal relationship with the Big Guy” and there was no way in heaven or hell I was taking the big gaudy yellow “First Time VISITOR Bag” that caused you to be surrounded by people who were inviting you to come back. ++ EV move of the day. But I promised Joanna I would try to go once to church. I am a man of my word.
Joanna and I went home and rearranged the living room. Then we went to the store to look at paint choices and French doors to replace the sliding glass door. The entire goal of the fixing and replacing is to make the house more energy efficient. After laughing at the choice of white that I had picked, she showed me a simple paint swatch that went perfectly with the tile that I had put into the living room. BOOOOOM! Then we went and got a new shower head that would replace the failing one. Damn Lubbock hard water. After lunch and having the nine year old lawn boy come by offering to mow my lawn for either $15 or $50 I went out and trim the hedges. Goodness, I just need a chain saw to fix the overgrowing bushes.
I went to my draft and felt good until I realized that I needed stuff at Wal-Mart, so I picked up Joanna and we headed to the newest Wal-Mart in Lubbock, off of 82nd and Milwaukee. I will never go to the scary Wal-Mart off of the South Loop again. It was clean, with nice friendly people.
Now, yes I know that going to Wal-Mart at Midnight is always going to bring out the freaks , but it entertains Joanna and I. So we were not surprised at all when in the line next to us were 5 women, two older, three college age. I really don’t want to know what they are doing or whatever, but they all sounded drunk and couldn’t make a full sentence if they combined. Oh, from their dress, I didn’t think that the working girls made it down to this side of town. But when they piled into a Oklahoma licensed truck it all made perfect sense.
Tragedy
As we left Joanna wanted Whataburger, since she hadn’t eaten dinner, we went and waited in this most STUPID LINE EVER. The woman at the drive through couldn’t do two things at once, let alone one. It took her 5 MINUTES for her to give us our CHANGE! Joanna asked her to make sure she put Ketchup in the bag. Simple request, but on the way home, she cursed as she picked out 4 picante packs out of the bag ”All I wanted was ketchup you stupid…” I then tuned out her bitching.
Stream of “What was I thinking of?”
Now my friend Waffles brought up that my posts don’t have a logical order to them. Sometimes they do, sometimes I just write what I was thinking and what amuses me…
Bad News…
Because of circumstances beyond my control and because of work responsibilities, I will be UNABLE to attend the Bash at Al’s in Philly. South Plains Fair + Night Ranger Concert + Remotes all weekend long = No can do. I am truly sorry my friends Al and Riggstad will be unable to cause my liver to have to regenerate after a night at the Bash. There are so many people, Riggstad, Evy, Doug, and many others that I haven’t had a chance to have deep conversations with that will be in attendance. But there is always yet another gathering in the future.
Labor Day…
Yup, I labored at work today, but nothing big planned at all. I probably will go and work out, though I had a great workout on Saturday walking from tailgate to tailgate and down the many flights of stairs from the top of the Press Box to the ground at the Texas Tech game. I really can feel it in my calves today.
Have a great rest of the day and smile.

Texas Tech Football versus Eastern Washington Blog
Pregame was cool, the Ultimate Tailgaters were super cool. Joanna and I enjoyed their hospitality. Ran into the ex-gf at the second tailgate that we visited. Wasn’t uncomfortable as I thought it would be.
Then up to the press box to cover the game and update the work webpage.
Texas Tech intercepts the lEastern Washington first possession and we have a rushing touchdown. Weee 7-0 Red Raiders. After a three and out Tech goes and drives again. ANOTHER RUSHING TOUCHDOWN! But for the first time since 2004 the extra point was blocked. It’s kinda scary as you don’t want this to be an omen for the year.
First thing I’ve noticed is that we are still getting WAY too many penalties.
Almost have taken the whole first quarter and Crabtree finally has his first receiving touchdown. Two point conversion is GOOD to Detron Lewis. This sophmore is going to be dangerous this year. As the defense doubles and triples Crabtree Lewis is going to be a dangerous player. I like the moves that Coach Leach has put in this year however I am still concerned about the defense. Still seems to be asleep.
After the Crabtree touchdown, the defense locks down and we are done with quarter number 1. Texas Tech 21- lEastern Washington 0.
This year, sponsorship means nothing for work and I don’t have to miss a play whatsoever. In some cases I wish we had the visability, but in other cases, I don’t miss half the second quarter.
Tech holds once again and Eric Morris is returning the punts. I like this kids spirit. Not the tallest player, not the biggest player, but the player with the biggest heart. Yet ANOTHER Penalty! Six for sixty yards in the first quarter alone. First play after the return and INTERCEPTION. Graham threw that where there wasn’t somebody ready to catch.
Will the bend, but don’t break defense hold? Can you say PENALTY for roughing the passer? UGH.
The stat sheet shows 5 receptions for Michael Crabtree for a touchdown and fourty yards, but most of it came on a 24 yard reception. The team seems to be just sleepwalking.
No bending, but full on break. Touchdown for the Eagles and it’s 21-7 Red Raiders.
I’ve got Big 12 Officials to my right and they are grading the referees. Funny to see the ref’s getting ripped by refs.

The female friends bails WHEW but…
Then I talked to Mom, and I’m going to take “The Deputy” to see the family next weekend while Texas Tech is away at Nevada.
GULP.
Then the following weekend I get to meet her dad. She says “it won’t be that bad, my god I’m scared of your parents.”
Wow, mutually destructive thoughts.
Well since I am going to be unable to visit with Kerri this weekend, I guess we will see an old friend. Jeff Strahan is going to be playing at the Spoon and I haven’t missed a Friday Night Show yet.
Why start now?
Laundry and breakfast for “The Deputy” then we will go tailgate at the game. PLEASE TECH WIN!
I’ve self censored myself on some topics that I would have covered in the past with people who have been my sunshine and been HUGE DISAPPOINTMENTS. But it serves nothing to air out all my fun. I think that the last month has tempered me.
There is a difference is what SHOULD be said. And what I NEED to say.
And that’s the difference between Tragedy and Happiness.
Stay Strong, Live Brave!
Have a great one, and I’ll check in later.
