What you send into the world…
A friend of mine has sent out a post talking about people who don’t seem to have a public filter.
This is my response:
What you put out into the world is what you are going to get back. Some people need help, they are begging for it and they don’t have a platform than the one that FB allows them to have.
Until my last breath comes from my mouth I will encourage, love and support, knowing that the love I send out is what I would like to come back to me.
Some people can’t digest the problems that the Lord may have given them. I have personally lost (as in no longer on this plane of existence) my mentor, 3 friends, a girl I used to date , a sister, a brother and other people I have known in the last 15 years of my life. When I went to the doctor to get medication he asked me what stress I had been under and I unloaded upon him, talking about my divorce and EVERYTHING.
“Sean, I am surprised to see you still walking,” the ER doc said as he prescribed me sleeping pills so I could rest without having the burden of my dead brother to trouble me. “I have seen people who have had less gone insane, but all you have wrong is not sleeping,” he asked me?
Everyone deals with stress and the way of problems differently.
I am here if people need me, but I damn well expect them to be there when I need them.
Those who aren’t when I need them after I have helped them, find the solace of my voicemail.
Sometimes being a friend is holding someone because they need help, and sometimes it’s jumping in the hole with them.
I am far from perfect and my life isn’t great. But I continue to positively look and help others, not expecting for anything in return.
I don’t put everything out there for the world to see. I have a locked twitter, locked tumblr and a locked wordpress blog where when I choose to speak something to get it off my chest, I do.
When I used to put everything out there, the world came knocking at my door, hating for the truths that I spoke. I was punished at my job and people I respected turned into people I can’t stand to this very day.
Now, I speak when I want to speak, reminding myself daily that what I send out into the world, I should expect returned to me 1000 times.
Hope only goes down the drain if you shove it between the grates.

Fearless Champions?
Fearless? Sigh…
- I saw this in another persons FB talking about Texas Tech: “Your 2012 NCAA National Cross Country Champion is…Kennedy Kithuka . Our Texas Tech track and cross country programs are national powerhouses that deserve our attention. Way to Wreck’Em Kennedy! #nationalchamp”
- Then while I was in Stillwater to watch Texas Tech take on Oklahoma State I was greeted by some of the most polite students and fans.
“Thanks for coming and supporting your team, ” “we wish you luck for a great game today but we hope we win,” “thanks for helping our economy and enjoy your visit to Ok. State.”
I was even greeted by the First Lady of Oklahoma State Ann Hargis and was invited into the Presidents Suite at the game.
“I know we share some similar traditions but your Chancellor and President are so nice when we come to Lubbock.”
Let’s take these two issues one by one.
A Cross Country Powerhouse? This is what gets me laughing. A “national powerhouse”. Really?
I looked at the results from the event , already knowing from my trip to Oklahoma State the answer, and yes Kennedy Kithuka won the race. Kicked ass, was an INDIVIDUAL National Champion.
But I looked for Texas Tech on the final tally, knowing that at the Ok. State vs. Texas Tech football game that Ok. State won yet ANOTHER team national championship.
Let’s look at the results… Read more…

Blind Faith

In the first round of the NFL Draft trades were going down like kids swapping baseball cards at recess. You can’t just think that no one would draft the player that you want. You have to assume that someone might trade up especially if they value the player that you want. The Browns gave up “BONUS PICKS” that they have from previous trades to a. get the player that they NEED, and b. KEEP HIM FROM EVERYONE ELSE!
How many people would have gone ballistic if the Bungles packaged their two picks in the first round to move ahead of the Browns to take Richardson from us? We as a fan base would have gone NUTS!
As for Weeden, you can’t think that NOONE from 23-37 would have picked who we wanted. EVERYONE KNEW WE WANTED Kendall Wright from Baylor. Both NFL Network and ESPN were reporting as much. So what did Tennessee do? They looked at him again and took him. He filled a need and it kept it from another AFC member.
I’m getting the usual jokes from people as I am wearing my Browns jersey today.
“How many Super Bowls wins do the Browns have?” (Chuckle Chuckle).
0, we have won Zero. But we have won NFL Championships in 1950, 1954, 1955, and 1964 . We won NFL Championships when there was 10 teasm, where if you lost only a tooth it was a great game. My team didn’t win in the salary cap, buy us a stadium or we’ll leave era .
That’s right, we let Art Modell (JACKASS) leave. We don’t miss him. We have owners that care, a stadium that rocks and heart. We will win our Super Bowl in my lifetime and it will be sweet. But it will be sweeter the silence that will come from pinheads that are on “America’s Team” You stopped being “America’s Team” when you let Tom Landry go.
Today people are talking about the “Cleveland Reach” that the Browns allegedly did last night with trading 4 picks to move up 1 spot.
The comment threads are crazy today from the doubters.
“This is absolutely this worst decision ever”
“This team will finish 1-15 this season”
“We have a geriatric for a QB”
Folks, we are not getting anything today but the dedication of a front office to rebuilding a team.
When Peyton Hillis was healthy he was a running force. A force that the BROWNS FANS propelled to a Madden cover. It wasn’t Peyton voting millions of times, it was the fans that supported the TEAM.
How did he pay the fans back? By whining, claiming he was hurt and not performing. Peyton is gone. His ego propelled him out of town.
We have our future,
Trent Richardson is healthy, he will pound the Stealers, Bungels and Nevermores into submission. I even predict a 150 yard game vs the Stealers this year for him.
He is that good.
10 days before the draft most guys are counting the millions that they are going to make, planning what new car they are going to get.
He took a Alabama fan who survived cancer to prom.
He is that good.
Next on the doubters bandwagon was taking Brandon Weeden.
Folks, I’ve been on the same field as he is, I’ve watched as he dissected the Texas Tech Red Raiders the last two years. He is comfortable in the pocket and he can THROW THE BALL. He doesn’t have a noodle for an arm. He has a cannon.
When dealing with a rookie QB you always worry about maturity. You don’t with Brandon. You get a ready to go QB who has the maturity, the knowledge and the ABILITY to lead a team to success.
The Browns will have to face the following QB’s this year:
Ben Roethlisberger, Joe Flacco, Eli Manning, Tony Romo, Michael Vick, Robert Griffin III , Andrew Luck, Peyton Manning and Philip Rivers.
Could Colt McCoy compete against those QB’s?
The Browns have one of the most BRUTAL schedules in the NFL. The 2nd hardest SoS of ANY TEAM. If Pat Schumer and the Browns win 7 games this year it will be amazing and I will be proud.
But it will happen.
No playoffs, no huge celebrations. They will still lose games they are supposed to win and win games they are supposed to lose.
But with the team that has Mike Holmgren as their GM, things are looking up. Mike doesn’t believe in losing. He turns teams around.
They will win.
They will be in the playoffs within 3 years.
I just have faith in the team.
Not blind faith, but faith.
Go Browns!

Long days and nights…
Even when I went to Ireland and had to traipse all around Dublin until we could check into our hotel room without crashing, I knew that staying up had a purpose. I wanted to see every sight, drink in every moment and yet I could be exhausted but I couldn’t sleep and miss a moment of what I was seeing.
I took pictures of everything I could, some made sense, some didn’t but those moments are locked in my memory for a long time.
Right now, I’m having the opposite problem. I have no purpose in staying up and yet I am up at all hours.
I’ve watched almost all 500 channels. Sorry Music Choice, you and the Espanol channels haven’t been touched.
And yet without her I am sleepless.
I miss my wife. I know she is working hard, trying to find a job everywhere including Austin, DFW, San Antonio and she’s frustrated. With her gone, looking, helping her mom & dad with a renovation in Fredericksburg, I am looking for sleep.
It isn’t here.
I’ve watched informercials, tried sleeping pills and they all don’t work.
I know that I will be able to finally sleep when she is home. When I can hold her then I will be able to get the sleep that my body needs.
But my heart will be better when I get that first kiss.
Get here soon Joanna… I miss you.

BETA

There has been a discussion on a board I’m a member of about BETA products.
I think Beta is an excuse to offer a half done product and fix on the fly. We don’t demand QUALITY anymore, and companies know that. Why come out with a great finished product if we can toy around with it and re-release in a couple of years and force all the suckers who bought the early release to get the new version.
Just ask Microsoft. They never fixed the bugs in Windows 2, they just created new features and re-released with 3 , then Windows NT then when that flopped ME, which bombed, then Windows XP , Windows Vista and now Windows 7. Portions of Google are still considered BETA. Instead of fixing what was broken, they added more “features” and increased the price.
My wife and everyone around her has an iPad. Everyone loves the iPad, but then the iPad 2 came out and some of those same people who were so IN LOVE with their iPad, turned around and bought the iPad 2. Guess what? The iPad3 is out. I love Apple, but I haven’t bought an iPad yet. I just keep waiting for the other shoe to drop. I anticipate a 2014 launch of the iPad4 with MIND BLOWING technology.
Why not spend the money for the newest and greatest in technology now?
Because I remember the BAG PHONE that I used to sell and wanted when I worked at Radio Shack in the early 90′s. I didn’t get it because I couldn’t justify the cost of the phone and service in exchange what new technology will come out in the term of when I truly NEEDED a cell phone.
Now I have a cell phone, not the Windows Phone, NOT the iPhone, but a nice Android phone. I know that there will be more powerful phones that have and will come out, but this phone serves my needs and is the thing I used to type this entry out.
BETA used to be a testing platform where products are limited to beta testers who would try and break the product, finding issues before it was ever released.
Now beta is an excuse. “Well, you know we are in BETA.” Not good enough. When you have a product , take pride in its release because if it crashes and some of them will, your pride will not be the only thing that you lose, it is your customers and future customers. You become the punchline to a joke.
In that way, aren’t we all in BETA?
