FYI – in 1987, the Toronto Blue Jays finished two games out of first place behind the Detroit Tigers, following one of the epic collapses in baseball history (Toronto led Detroit by four games with seven to play, and then proceeded to close the year with seven consecutive losses). Anyways, Toronto won more than 90 games, so it’s unlikely that they were one of the two worst teams in 87.
I think in retrospect, that was the summer that the Indians were predicted by Sports Illustrated to win the World Series, and wound up with 105 losses to lead the league.
